Food |
Ditto on the bread and appetizers being yummy, but I agree with JPC30's review from over a year ago that beyond those items, you would be better staying at home eating cold cereal than wasting A LOT of your money on the dog food served as entrees and sushi here.
We went at 6:00pm on a Saturday night, which you think would be when they have their prime chefs cooking, but all three of our main courses were inexcusably terrible. We ordered one of the night’s specials, the lobster risotto, which was NOT risotto at all, but soupy hard rice; the swordfish which was overcooked, bland and greasy; and two sushi rolls, a dragon roll, which was sloppy and made with poor quality fish, and one of their "tornado" rolls, which is a maki roll wrapped in fried potato and over-fried to the point of being greasy and overcooking the tuna inside to the point of it being the consistency of canned fish. It failed at being "sushi", the same way the special dish failed at being "risotto". Do not be adventurous and order a "tornado" roll if you love sushi.
We called the waiter to complain immediately upon being served the food, since you could see right away that the risotto was not right at all. That disgusting food should never have been allowed to leave the kitchen. By the time the manager came over to apologize, we had tasted the other two dishes and realized that they, too, were practically inedible. We did not scream and make a scene about the poor quality because the restaurant was very full at the time and we were trying to be polite, but in retrospect we should have complained much more than we did because the manager only took off the risotto and ONE of the sushi rolls. This was despite the fact that the first entree was sent back before being touched and the other two dishes were sent away with less than four bites taken of each.
Frankly, I found it incredibly offensive that after being served such dirt, we were still sent a check (which the waiter brought to us, the manager never came back to see us again, which I also found to be incredibly rude and in bad taste) which totaled over $150.00 for 3 people! And that is after $45 of inedible gruel was taken off the tab! Honestly, it was the worst dining experience I have EVER had at such a price point.
One last thing…the drinks were very overpriced (the prices aren't listed on the drink menu, which makes sense because no one would order them otherwise.) They were VERY, VERY weak. I'm guessing there had to have been less than a full shot in my whole frozen drink! Don't waste your money on the mixed drinks and order wine instead! |

Atmosphere |
| The atmosphere is actually very pretty and chic. I would rate it higher, except the facade of valet parking and nice interior decorating is just a way to lure you into the trap of paying New York City prices for food that is so bad you would pay a second time just to get them to take it away from you. |

Service |
| The valets, the hostess, our waiter, and the busboys were wonderful. The manager, however, needs serious lessons in proper customer service. Obviously the problems with this place are in management and the awful kitchen and sushi bar. |

 |
Value |
| It was overpriced even if the food had been excellent, but we're no strangers to that sort of a situation. What is awful is how much we were charged for such disgusting food and weak drinks. |

Food |
The ONLY item that was good was their chocolate dessert "Teardrop." With a party of five, 4 people were dissatisfied. From chopped salad which came with oily chick peas saturated with a tasteless dressing, from the surf and turf which one man passed around asked "What is on the meat" and "What does this taste like?", to my dover sole which was so dry and tasteless that I had to use hot sauce!
Their potato special, looked good, but was just as tastless. No fresh herbs were used at all to enhance any flavors. We were all disappointed. I ordered a Scotch and Water and even the glass they served it in showed lack of experience for a service industry. Scotch should not be served in their a skinny, thin glassed water goblet but rather in a hardy crystal or glass that will not give the impression of cracking in your hands as you pick it up. Additionally, it was so watered down that when I finally got my second drink I asked for it on the rocks. Unfortunately by the time that came, the ice in my water glass was empty. I didn't get the ice for the water until dessert, which is also when the glass of wine I had ordered for dinner arrived, along with my cappuccino. |

Atmosphere |
Our party was in the private, quieter room off the bar. The room was tasteless as well. All I thought upon entering the room was how bland and small the room was. When I went to the ladies room, I realized how lucky we were to be in the quieter room. The restaurant was packed and there were only two stalls in the ladies room, one of which was completely out of order. It had overflowed and was filled with water and other "things."
There was a long line waiting to use the one stall and another customer had said that she had already complained about the situation. When it was my turn I guessed that the reason the other toilet had backed up was because of the cheap, hard toilet paper that was supplied. It was as course as those cheap hard paper towels that schools use. No wonder the toilet clogged up. My guess is that they skimped on toilet paper, only to pay for it in the long run in plumbing bills and disgusting facilities for their patrons. |

Service |
Soooo bad. OK, when you hire young inexperienced waiters whose fault is it? Higher priced food should be served by experienced people...period. When my friend told the waiter that I hated my salad as he was cleaning up, he just took it away and didn't say one word. We had ordered the seafood tower - what a mistake! There were 5 of us. There were no serving utensils provided with it, we had no spoons on our table to take some of the sauce out of the ONE LITTLE container, and the ONLY COCKTAIL SAUCE was already surrounded by the 4 Shrimp. So, you had to take your own fork and dip into that cocktail sauce to get some for your oysters or clams. How wonderful is this? Oh, and it took 45 minutes to get it! The waiter had not even taken our food order yet and when it did come I had to clear the table to make a space for the tower. We were all undecided how to take some of the other sauce as there was only one small container, it consistency was liquidy and we only had forks. So, I thought I would ask for more containers of sauce. They didn't arrive until there was no more food to put the sauce on.
We had to tell our waiter twice that we wanted to order the dinners that we had already decided on. He had taken the menu away as we ordered and then asked if we wanted soup or salad. He gave the impression that it was included which in the end I don't know whether it was or was not since I didn't pick up the bill. But it was how he asked the question. Not if you want it, but rather "Do you want salad or soup" that gave the impression of either being included in your entree price. If it is not included, an establisment should not teach their staff to present it that way and if they do it is borderline deception.
So, I ordered a chopped salad. He had already taken my menu away so I could not read what was in it or how it was prepared. I don't get it. |

Value |
| Ha, what a joke. My Dover Sole was $29. Hardly cheap and who knows if the oily, tastless salad was included. No value whatsoever since the food was terrible. Is there a value price on bad food and service? I don't think so. |

Overall |
| I expected the food to be very good here and was totally surprised by the entire experience. I would never ever go back and I would tell people not to go. |
